Halloween is less than a couple days away. So I hope my attempt to stay timely and consistent with my blog content isn’t that obvious.
I’ve been living here for approximately five years already, yet last week was my second (well the first time was literally the week before that for this shoot) time visiting Eastern State Penitentiary, considered the world’s first penitentiary.
Terror Behind The Walls
Now you still have quite some days left to visit ESP during night time. Oh by the way did I mention not only you can visit ESP at night, but you will also have a choice to opt for a lonesome haunted house adventure and precious interactive experience with the ghosts themselves.
ESP site structure is massive. Of course it is a piece of cake for them to go out of their way, be super creative, and create six different haunting attractions. The entire tour time took approximately half an hour to 40 min. (depends on your pace that relies on your bold gut). Truthfully, I had fun. Maybe I could say that because I was chickened out and didn’t wear the glow stick that allowed group separation and interaction.
One of my best impressions was that they had a 4-D attraction (oops, am I spilling the beans?). It was truly a kaleidoscope dream. You HAVE to check it out.
BUT the fun is not over yet once you finish the tour, because how can you call it a night without getting a bit boozy? The hall where Al Capone’s cell is located, is reserved to serve as a temporary speakeasy bar. My night didn’t end there, unfortunately, but yours definitely should!
Below is my favorite haunting attractions around Philly, ranking based on my own experience and reference:
Terror Behind The Walls (5/5)
Pennhurst Asylum (4/5)
Fright Factory (3.5/5)
The Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride (3/5: Hmm you're literally situated in one place so it was nothing to be scared of..)
